WIth you already having a freighter sapping a crew salary, You have to play it safe. Starting fleets, you want as low of a crew salary you can have till you can get a steady enough income to make up for it.
Right now my fleet consists of 8 Hai ShieldBettles, 2 Falcons, at an average of 4 Ospreys, about 4-8 Fury's and 12 Water Bugs(Hai Light Warships) However, my crew salaries cost between 52k-64k. I kept the two I had left and went straight for the Hai warships. THe Osprey is one of my two favorite light warships, and the falcon was a nice starter Heavy, but the second I found the Hai. The fury's are cheap, reliable, and with Hai tech they are worth quite a bit in firefights. SOld the sparrow right off the bat but kept everything else. I made my jump from Sparrow, to two Fury's, to an Osprey, and Falcon.
